There’s some significant relief for teachers and staff at secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Adityanath government has agreed to increase the maximum gratuity limit for teachers and staff working in aided and council secondary schools to ₹25 lakh. This will directly benefit their retirement benefits.
Earlier the limit was 20 lakh, now it is equal to that of state employees.
Until now, these employees received a maximum gratuity of ₹20 lakh, while on July 2, 2024, the gratuity limit for state employees was raised to ₹25 lakh. For the past year, secondary teachers have been demanding parity.
The Secondary Education Department has finally prepared a proposal and sent it to the Finance Department. It is reported that after final approval, this rule will be implemented throughout Uttar Pradesh.
More than 250,000 teachers and non-teaching staff are employed in aided and council-run secondary schools in the state. Consequently, this decision is considered to significantly enhance the financial security of these employees.

You will get huge benefits on retirement
Teachers who complete their service after the new threshold is implemented will receive a larger lump sum payment than before. This decision will provide robust social security, including both pension and gratuity, especially for long-serving employees.
